Welcome to Jeff Thomann’s Public Domain Remix Blog.  Jeff Thomann’s main art blog is kept over at http://www.jeffthomann.wordpress.com. Jeff Thomann’s Delicious Links Blog is over at http://www.mastermesh.wordpress.com

This new Public Domain Remix Blog is being created because I, Jeff Thomann, want to create a massive blog that links to various public domain images, sounds, videos, and that I remix in various ways for a variety of artistic and communicative reasons. I find that the Public Domain has a lot of potential for use in art and for use as a way to build new versions of art. I see public domain remixes as having the potential to allow all of humanity to grow in a lot of ways together as people with a worldwide mixed heritage of goodness. I see it as a way to open new lines of communication between generations. I see it as a way to open new lines of communication between races. I see it as a new way to open lines of communications between all people.

We all have a shared common history in many ways – through the media, through what we are taught in our schools, in our churches, in our newspapers, in the stories we hear daily on the televisions, in the stories we share in our blogs, and in a variety of other sources. There is a very rich visual, audio, and symbolic language we all share on many levels. The purpose of this blog is to explore this wide area, and utilize it in various ways, redoing some messages, re-emphasizing others, finding new ways to say old stories, finding new twists to old stories that we all know, and ultimately finding new ways to explore our humanity, our shared heritage, our bonds, our hatreds, our loves, our disputes… ultimately learning to grow as individuals, as groups, as society, as a world, as enormosly loving hateful joyous kind caring sharing grim dim annoying enticingly interesting beings all living together in this shared universe.
